"women's erotic writing circle"
THE POLITICS OF WORDS
VOCABULARY IS POLITICS, WORDS ARE OUR KNIVES AND LANGUAGE IS OUR WEAPON. REDEFINING GRAMMAR, SPELLING AND TERMINOLOGIES ARE OUR TOOLS FOR CONFRONTING RULES AND SYSTEMS IN WHICH WOMEN ARE SOCIALIZED IN, AND BLOWING UP GENDER ROLES AND STEREOTYPES WE ARE IMPRISONED BY. THAT'S WHY I CREATED THE "WOMEN'S EROTIC WRITING CIRCLE", TO NAME AND TO DARE TO NAME WHAT WE HAVE, WHAT WE FEEL, WHAT WE DESIRE... TO MAKE THE VOCABULARY ON WOMEN'S SEXUALITY RICHER, MORE ACCURATE AND MORE PRECISE. TO REWRITE WORDS AND EXPRESSIONS FROM OUR PERSPECTIVE, APPROPRIATE AND REDESIGN THE LANGUAGE OF WOMEN'S PLEASURE BY WOMEN. BECAUSE SOMETHING STARTS TO EXIST FROM THE MOMENT YOU HAVE A WORD FOR IT, SOMETHING YOU CAN'T NAME, MOST OF THE TIME DOESN'T EXIST EITHER..
IN THE "WOMEN'S EROTIC WRITING CIRCLE", WE DEAL WITH FEMALE DESIRE, REPRESSED AND LIVED SEXUAL FANTASIES THROUGH CREATIVE WRITING EXERCISES. WE PAMPER WORDS, CARESS ETYMOLOGY, FLIRT WITH SYNTAX, DEVOUR SEMANTICS, LUST AFTER STYLISTICS AND CRAVE FOR GRAMMAR. AT THE END OF EACH SESSION, PARTICIPANTS, IF THEY WANT, CAN READ AND SHARE THEIR TEXTS. IF YOU WANT TO APPROACH YOUR BODY, YOUR DESIRES AND YOUR SEXUALITY(S) A LITTLE MORE NATURALLY, LIBERATED AND LIGHTLY, JOIN US, NO PREVIOUS WRITING EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY.
WE MEET ONCE A MONTH IN BUDAPEST IN PERSON.
WRITING
In this club you will focus on expressive writing in many different forms. You can decide to write in your mother tongue or in English. Through different topics ("desire", "rave", "unity", "silence"...), you will have the opportunity to explore different types of poetry and prose styles, as well as responding to literature, quotes, immersive experiences, and music. Strategies to develop your own style, personal aesthetic, to avoid "writer’s block" and the "fear of the white page" will be addressed. Talks on philosophy and literature will make you discover authors, get inspired by their work, debate on ideas, develop critical thinking.
PERFORMING TEXTS AND WORDS
You will also regularly read your texts, and occasionally create lecture performances or sound poetry pieces. You will investigate the use of dialogue, texts, words to influence and enhance performance, whether it is dance or physical theatre. You will explore the works of choreographers and visual artists using narrative texts, speech, prose, drama, poetry, or introducing abstract words or voice. We discuss the model of language and linguistics within dance and performance from a structuralist and post-structuralist concept, challenge the connection between language and body, text and movement.
PUBLIC LECTURE
Sometimes we organize public readings of our texts in galleries, bookshops...
PUBLICATION
If you give us permission, your texts will be published online.
