Project space
Visibility is not neutral.
The art world does not only produce exhibitions and performances. It produces attention.
Some artists are looked at again and again. Their unfinished work receives patience. Their experiments receive context. Their names circulate, and circulation produces more circulation.
Others remain invisible until someone recognised decides to look.
I am interested in what happens when artists stop waiting for that decision.
The School of Disobedience is also a platform: a project space where we create public situations for artistic practices to meet audiences, test themselves, circulate, and grow.
This is another way I put institutional critique into practice.
Instead of asking only who deserves visibility, we build places where visibility can be distributed differently.

Art needs recurring places to happen.
Throughout the year, our platform hosts performances, workshops, jam sessions, experiments, conversations, and other temporary formats.
What connects them is the possibility of meeting: practices meeting audiences, artists meeting one another, and ideas entering circulation before they become fixed.

Performance Now! Festival
A festival can also redistribute attention.
Every two years, Performance Now! brings together performance practices, artists, and audiences across Budapest.
The festival gives space to work that may be difficult to classify, peripheral to dominant circuits, aesthetically nonconformist, still developing, or simply coming from somewhere the centre is not looking.
I don’t want the platform to invite only artists who are already recognised, because their names make the program look important.
I also want to give space to artists whose work is strong but who may not yet have the biography, visibility, or institutional recognition that usually opens doors.
Sometimes an invitation should come before recognition. A platform can do more than reflect existing hierarchies. It can help create new trajectories.

The platform is part of the practice
The School does not end when a workshop ends.
A participant may return with a performance.
A work developed here may travel elsewhere.
An artist may come back as a collaborator or teacher.
A temporary encounter may become a longer relationship.
This is why I think of the School as an ecosystem rather than a series of programs.
