SCHOOL OF DISOBEDIENCE
SCHOOL OF DISOBEDIENCE

workshop weekend

May 23-24, 2026

Join us in Budapest for a creative weekend of eight workshops, bringing together dance, movement, writing, visual arts, and community practices.

Depending on the workshop, you will:
  • research and explore (Research Lab),
  • create artistic material (Creative Workshop),
  • (un)learn (Alternative Pedagogical Space), or
  • experiment through multi-sensory practices (Immersive Space).

Rather than focusing on results, these workshops emphasize process and becoming. You will learn concrete tools and practices, experiment with different media, explore multiple ways of creating and collaborating, and open new perspectives for your own work.

The workshops are led by eight artists participating in the month-long Performance & People Masterclass in May 2026. This weekend marks the closing moment of their facilitator training, where they share their practices and guide participants through structured experiences and processes.

This weekend is open to anyone curious about creation, connection, and exploration, and about the School of Disobedience’s methods, values, and spaces. No prior artistic experience is required.
Anna Ádám, founder of the School of Disobedience, will be present throughout the weekend.

schedule

Saturday, May 23

17:00-18:00
Play, Movement & Paradox
A movement and interdisciplinary creative lab centered on play, perception, and contradiction. Participants explore sensation, movement, and interaction through open-ended physical tasks. The space is artistic and exploratory, inviting curiosity rather than fixed outcomes.
Facilitated by: Pascale Oechsli

18:30-19:30
Somatic Sensing & Storytelling Lab
An interdisciplinary somatic storytelling workshop combining movement, drawing, and writing. Participants move from sensory awareness into visual and written expression, allowing stories to emerge from the body. The space is creative and process-based, with no right or wrong results.
Facilitated by: Lucie Blaževská

Sunday, May 24

13:30-14:30
Collective Play, Memory & the Poetics of Fabric
A play-based group workshop and collective performance using a large handmade fabric parachute. Participants engage in shared movement, discussion, and embodied play to explore trust, memory, and collaboration. The space is artistic and participatory, rooted in care and collective experience.
Facilitated by: Juliet Phraser

15:00-16:00
Writing as a Practice of Breaking Away

A writing-based workshop blending reflective prompts and guided discussion. The space is educational and creative, combining theory-informed thinking with personal expression.
Facilitated by: Kíra Zoé Antman

17:00-18:00
community-building and place-making

Participants use collective tools such as mapping, movement, and shared reflection to explore community-building and place-making without performance pressure. The space is educational and experiential, focused on fostering safe and collaborative group dynamics.
Facilitated by: Anna Naderi

18:30-19:30
The Body Remembers
A movement research lab focused on exploring and developing movement through practice. Participants work with dance, interdisciplinary exercises, and writing to investigate how movement emerges, transforms, and communicates.
