This summer's "Choreographic Poetry" camp combining creative writing, text-based live art creation and lecture performance was such an incredible experience for all of us, that we decided to repeat it, and organize a second one with new topics.
about
CREATIVE WRITING
In this camp you will focus on expressive writing and text-based art creation in many different forms. You can decide to write in your mother tongue or in English. Through different topics ("Self-space", "Invisible walls", "Traveling without moving", "Limits & Boundaries"...), you will have the opportunity to explore different types of poetry and prose styles, as well as responding to literature, quotes, immersive experiences, and music. Strategies to develop your own style, personal aesthetic, to avoid "writer’s block" and the "fear of the white page" will be addressed. Participating in immersive experiences will give you space and time to discover authors, get inspired by their work, debate on ideas, develop critical thinking.
PERFORMING TEXTS AND WORDS
You will also regularly read your texts, and create a lecture performance or sound poetry piece. You will investigate the use of dialogue, texts, words to influence and enhance performance, whether it is dance or physical theatre. We will shortly trace the history of choreographers and visual artists using narrative texts, speech, prose, drama, poetry, or introducing abstract words, voice into their works. We discuss the model of language and linguistics within dance and performance from a structuralist and post-structuralist concept, challenge the connection between language and body, text and movement.
PUBLICATION
Following the camp, if you give us permission, your texts will be published online.
